Chapter 521 Ganter and Austin witnessed the chaos that unfolded in Hill City over the past two weeks. The hospitals were overloaded, and more patients were being admitted. Even they, a psychologist, were asked to help.
Ganter shook his head helplessly. He was a doctor in psychology, so there was nothing he could do for those people. All he could do was watch them leave, disheartened and desperate.
When he went out on the street, he noticed the people walking around were fewer than before. Every day, he could hear robberies happening and gunshots in the air.
The street where his clinic was located used to be a bustling area with merchants selling their goods, but they were all gone. His clinic was the only establishment left in the street.
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇtAustin looked worried. "Ganter, we should also think about leaving. Hill City is not safe anymore." News of robberies, shootings, and outbreaks of sickness were so frequent that the growing fear among the people was palpable. Even Austin was scared too.
Ganter sighed. "Let's close down the clinic." He was baffled. "How did the city cto this? Isn't Stephen the mentee of the Grand Marshal? How could he let things get so bad?" He started to doubt and question Stephen, wondering if it was wrong to save the young man in the first place.
Austin did not know how to answer his mentor.
Meanwhile, Stephen was just as troubled noticing what was happening in the city.
"What happened? Where did the outbreak cfrom? Why are the robberies happening? I want answers! Now!" The city's economy was deteriorating, and he could not let it go down the drain, or he would not be able to answer to the federal government.
Nolan said, "I will get to the bottom of this." He was responsible for the series of events, but he was not afraid because he already had a plan to deal with it while ensuring his own safety and escape.
He headed to the hospital and met with Charles' parents. He showed them the evidence of Charles taking bribes and then told them why Ethan was arrested.
The elderly couple were shocked. Their son had truly becthe kind of person they despised the most-corrupt, accepting bribes, and in staggering amounts. Worse still, he was working for the very man responsible for ruining the life of the person who had once been their greatest savior.
The family had received a lot of kindness from Ethan, so they knew what kind of person he was. Running alongside Ethan felt endless, and no matter how hard one pushed themselves, exhaustion was inevitable. However, Ethan was different; he understood life in a way others did not.
Everyone who had ever benefited from Ethan's kindness knew one thing: even the slightest moment of doubt or surrender from Ethan could throw the entire world into darkness. It was as if the whole sky would turn black if he ever lost hope.
Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏmXavier looked past Nolan, focusing on the people walking back and forth in the corridor. He let out a heavy sigh. Then, he then looked at his wife, but before he could speak, his wife spoke up.
"Let's just go." A moment of silence later, Xavier nodded.
That very day, the two of them discharged themselves despite the hospital's best efforts to dissuade al's them. The elderly couple has made up their minds, especially Jessica, Xavier's wife.
She was happy that she could live as long as she did, but deep down, she wished she had not survived long enough to witness such unbearable truths such as her own son betraying the man who had once been their savior. What reason did she have to keep living in a world like that? Nolan saw them off, and a grin formed on his lips. His plan was progressing smoothly.
His initial plan was to frCharles, making him the scapegoat for everything.
Hill City was in shambles because Charles took the bribes, and when he exposed Charles, that would make him a hero. The will be updated first on this website.
