Chapter 63 One More Request Sophia knew Emily was doing it on purpose, but she couldn't do anything about it. She just watched as Emily walked away with Michael.
Once they were out of Sophia's sight, Emily let go of Michael right away. Michael felt a bit lost with the sudden emptiness in his arms.
Emily led him to an open-air balcony at the venue. The evening breeze was chilly, and she regretted picking this spot. She rubbed her arms to warm up.
Michael looked at Emily, her white dress making her look even more graceful and charming. He always knew Emily was beautiful; among all the women he had met, Emily had the best temperament. He quickly took off his suit jacket and draped it over Emily's shoulders.
Emily wanted to refuse, but it was really cold, so she accepted it.
She looked at Michael and asked, "Does what you said yesterday still count?" Michael, looking a bit lazy, seemed unsure of what she was referring to. He thought for a moment and asked, "Which words are you talking about?" Emily said, "You said that tonight, anything I want, you'll buy it for me, right?" Michael thought Emily had finally softened towards him. He immediately smiled and said, "Yeah, it counts. Anything you want tonight, I can buy it for you." Michael knew that he owed Emily big tfor not standing up for her when they both suspected that Sophia was behind the cold storage incident. So, he was willing to fulfill any request she made.
Emily nodded and said, "Alright, as long as you remember what you said." Then she thought of something else and continued, "I have one more request." Michael nodded, signaling her to go on.

Michael's face immediately darkened, and his smile disappeared. He said stiffly, "Emily, don't push your luck." Emily suddenly laughed and said, "Why? Isn't this a reasonable request from a wife to her husband? You said it yourself yesterday. Before we get divorced, I'm your wife, and you're my husband. So, I don't allow my husband to buy gifts for another woman. Besides, this is our joint property. You can spend money only with my permission." Michael didn't expect that one day he would be manipulated by Emily. He laughed in anger and said, "Emily, are you jealous now?" Emily snorted. "No, I just don't you to buy gifts for her. And I know Sophia was behind the cold storage incident. I also know you're covering for her. If you don't want this matter to be brought up again or for Sophia to go to jail, you'd better agree to my request." Michael thought, 'This isn't a big deal anyway. If I don't buy for Sophia, I can have someone else do it.' Just as he was about to agree, Emily said, "And Andrew can't buy anything for her either." Michael laughed in anger. "Emily, you're clearly jealous and you care, but you won't admit it. Fine, no buying things for other women, right? Okay, I agree." Emily was delighted, not expecting Michael to agree so easily. But then he changed his tone. "Since you made a request, as your husband, I should also exercise my husband's rights, right?" Knowing Michael wouldn't agree so easily, Emily coldly looked at him. "What rights do you want to exercise?" Michael chuckled and stepped closer, trapping Emily between the balcony railing and his arms.
Emily leaned back against the railing, feeling cornered. He enclosed her in his arms, his voice low and seductive near her ear. "Emily, as a wife, you should know what a husband's rights are, right?" Hearing Michael's suggestive words, Emily immediately understood, but she only felt disgust towards him now. She pushed Michael away and said in indignation, "Michael, did you forget you have a cleanliness obsession? Also, my requests tonight are reasonable. You said it was compensation. Now you're making demands of me, don't you think that's putting the cart before the horse?" Michael smiled indifferently, "Haven't you heard that business is never without deceit? I'm not a good person. If the client makes a request, does the contractor have to accept it? I'm just making a reasonable request as the contractor." Michael approached Emily again, wrapping his arm around her waist and pulling her close. "Emily, don't overestimate yourself." Emily angrily stomped on his foot and pushed him away, heading back to the venue. But Michael grabbed her arm from behind and said, "I've already introduced you as Mrs. Smith in front of everyone. If you leavealone now, are you going to tell them that the president of the Smith Corporation and his wife are not getting along?" Emily sneered. "So, the Smith Corporation is all you care about. It seems even Sophia can't compare to the Smith Corporation in your heart." Michael smiled indifferently. "Say whatever you want." Then he forcibly placed Emily's arm in his and walked back to the venue as if nothing had happened.
Emily whispered in his ear, "Don't forget what you just promised me." Michael said, "It seems Mrs. Smith really has something she wants tonight." Emily didn't know if Michael would fulfill her request, but at least there was shope.
After arriving at the venue, Abigail cover to her. Before she and Michael separated, Michael said, "The auction is about to start. Behave yourself." Emily glared at him. "Just take care of yourself." Then she turned and walked away with Abigail. Sophia saw Emily leave, her eyes turning dark and vicious. Since she had failed to dispose of Emily last time, she wouldn't let Emily go this time. Actually, when Sophia had met Michael today, she had noticed his lips were broken. She immediately knew what had happened but still smiled and asked him about it. She remembered his response was, "It's nothing. I got bitten by a rabbit." Sophia forced a smile and said nothing. Then just a sharp glance told her that Emily's lips were also broken, though well-covered with lipstick.
It was clear what had happened between them. She was furious, wanting to tear Emily apart immediately. But then she remembered Michael's previous warning and suddenly becmore clear-headed.
Since she couldn't get rid of Emily, she would make Michael completely hers, forcing him to her side.
Emily and Abigail sat down in a corner. Abigail handed her a glass of orange juice. Abigail asked, "How are you? Are you feeling okay? You've been standing all night. Drink sorange juice to replenish your energy. How did it go? Did you talk to Michael?" Emily nodded and said, "Even though he agreed, I'm still kinda uneasy." Abigail replied, "Yeah, let's just take it one step at a time. If it doesn't work out, we'll dip into our funds." But Emily didn't want to burden Abigail. All her funds were managed by Abigail. Seeing Abigail's determined look, she felt a bit guilty since half of that money was Abigail's.
Abigail knew what Emily was worried about and said assuringly, "Emily, don't overthink it. Since it's something Isabella left for you, we definitely need to get it back. Don't worry, we can always make more money. With you around, do you think I won't be able to make money in the future?" Emily smiled and said, "Abigail, you're too good to me." Abigail grinned and said, "Alright, stop being so sentimental. Let's go, the auction's starting." Emily pulled Abigail towards the venue. The seat next to Michael was empty, clearly reserved for her. Without hesitation, she sat next to him. Sophia was on Michael's left. When Emily saw Sophia give her a polite smile, she stayed expressionless, ignoring her. She'd get back at Sophia for the cold storage incident one day. Tonight's auction was a big deal, with wealthy big shots from all industries. Emily couldn't compete with them financially, so she wasn't interested in other items; she only wanted "Lucky." The first item was a porcelain vase.
Michael looked at Emily and asked, "Do you want it?" Emily scoffed. "Why would I want this broken vase? I have a bunch at hwith no place to put them." Michael smiled without saying anything. Seeing the vase reminded him of the bottles he had broken in the bathroom last night. He then gestured to Andrew, who immediately cto his side.
Andrew bent down, and Michael whispered something to him. Andrew looked surprised but quickly left.
Emily didn't know what Michael and Andrew were talking about, but she noticed the smile in his eyes. She guessed he had signed another multi-billion dollar deal and didn't pay much attention. However, she suddenly thought, 'Could he be asking Andrew to buy something for Sophia?' Emily immediately leaned close to Michael's ear and angrily questioned, "You're not asking Andrew to buy something for another woman, are you?" Michael was distracted by Emily's sudden closeness. Her comforting scent was luring him into making a more intimate move. He put his arm around Emily's waist, pulling her even closer.
Emily glared at him. "What are you doing?" Michael smiled meaningfully. "Yes, I asked Andrew to buy something. If she's good, I'll give it to her." Emily snorted, forcefully prying his hand off her waist, and continued watching the auction.
The second item was a sapphire necklace. Emily didn't expect Isabella's work to be auctioned so soon. Emily stared at the sapphire necklace. She remembered it because Isabella had said it was her first design. Later, when Hayden's business hit a rough patch, Isabella gave him the sapphire necklace, and he sold it. Unexpectedly, the sapphire necklace had changed hands several times and ended up here. Emily watched as the price kept climbing. She wanted to bid for it but couldn't afford the high price.
Just as she was about to ask Michael for help, Sophia chimed in, "Emily, this sapphire looks familiar."
Sophia knew exactly whose sapphire quiet it was but had been keeping Emily said, "Yeah, it does look familiar wonder which jerk put it up for sale. Such a good gem, and he just auctions it off?" Sophia's expression shifted, but she kept her smile. "Emily, you really know how to joke. Gems are meant to be admired, aren't they?" Emily snorted and said nothing. Michael looked at Emily and asked again, "Do you want it?" Emily was about to say yes when Sophia interrupted, "Michael, this sapphire necklace is really beautiful. I like it a lot. Will you buy it for me?" Sophia knew Emily wanted it but didn't want her to have it.

Michael was about to speak when he felt a sharp pain in his arm.
n. He turned to see Emily smiling at him, but her eyes said, "If you buy it for Sophia, I'll make sure you regret it." Michael suddenly laughed. Sophia asked, "Michael, why are you laughing?" Michael turned to Sophia and said, "Alright, it's just a necklace. If you like it, I'll buy it for you." As soon as Michael finished speaking, he felt Emily's nails dig into his flesh.
The pain was nothing to Michael, but he pretended it hurt and looked at Emily, feigning ignorance. "What's wrong, Mrs. Smith?" Emily gritted her teeth and whispered in his ear, "Michael, you untrustworthy man. Do you forget what you promised me?" Michael asked seriously, "What did I promise you?"
With Sophia right next to them, Emily couldn't say much, but she was determined not to let Sophia have it. She hissed "Michael, if you dare pay for this, I'll make sure everyone knows the president of Smith Corporation's wife is having an affair. Do you believe me?" Emily glared at him, and he saw her stubborn and slightly aggrieved gaze.
Michael suddenly felt softhearted and didn't want to tease her anymore. He gently patted Emily's hand to comfort her.
But Emily didn't let go, so he whispered in her ear, "Alright, I'll listen to Mrs. Smith." Michael then turned to Sophia and said, "This necklace doesn't suit you. Look at something else." Sophia had been watching their interaction. She had never seen such joy in Michael's eyes, or rather, Michael had never shown such joy because of her.
Sophia immediately looked at Emily, but Emily didn't look back. Sophia knew Emily must have said something to make Michael change his mind.
A calculating look flashed in Sophia's eyes. She wouldn't let Emily get the necklace today.
Sophia immediately said, "Michael, I think it suits me. If you don't want to buy it for me, that's fine. I'll buy it myself." With that, she raised her paddle. "1.4 million dollars." The room buzzed with surprise. No one expected a small sapphire necklace to reach 1.4 million dollars.
