Chapter 51 Heartbreak Blair didn't expect Allison to turn her down. She'd already let go of her old grudges and was ready to accept Allison, but Allison still didn't want to? Blair was fuming. "Allison, don't ccrying tolater. Without the Bennett family's backing, you really think you can make it in the Bennett Group?" Blair was already mad that Allison had snagged 20% of the shares. Now, she thought Allison was being even more selfish.

"Fine, I see how it is. Damn it! Allison, you're so ungrateful!" With that, Blair stormed off, leaving Allison standing there.

Even though it was scorching hot, Allison felt a chill run through her, like she'd been dunked in ice water. She swayed a bit, but then someone cup from behind and hugged her. "Allison, you okay?" When Alexander showed up, he saw Allison standing there, looking lost, so he cover and hugged her. Allison looked up, saw Alexander, and then just broke down, hugging him and crying her heart out.

Mia heard the commotion and cover, her eyes red too.

Liliana pulled Mia aside and asked, "What's going on?" Mia, feeling really bad for Allison, said, "I don't know. Yasmin's mom called Allison over, and then Allison started crying. She even hugged Uncle Alexander!" That was all Mia could get out, but Liliana's feelings were all over the place as she looked at Allison.

It was clear Blair had said something to really upset Allison. Liliana loved her daughter very much, so she didn't know why was Blair so harsh on Allison.

Liliana sighed and walked over to stand next to Alexander. "Take Allison away for now, find a quiet place and get something to eat." Alexander nodded, barely keeping his emotions in check. Seeing the girl he cared about so much getting hurt like this made him want the Bennett family to just disappear.

He knew Allison well; if she wasn't really heartbroken, she wouldn't cry like this.

Alexander scooped Allison up and headed for the school gate while Liliana held her daughter's hand and followed. Luckily, there weren't many people around, so Alexander went straight to the parking lot and put Allison in the car. "Allison, how about we get something to eat?" After crying, Allison felt a bit embarrassed. She was eighteen now, and crying like this felt childish.

Seeing her discomfort, Alexander put his arm around her shoulder. "If you ever feel hurt, tell me. Don't keep it to yourself; you've got me." Allison leaned on Alexander's shoulder, feeling a deep sadness. "I want meat, beef!" Alexander smiled and told the driver to head to a big estate on the east side of the city. Mia had been there before, so as soon as they arrived, she ran over to Allison and pulled her along. "Allison, the barbecue here is the best in Skycrest, and this place belongs to Hunter. I can do anything I want here!" Allison couldn't help but smile at Mia's words. Maybe Mia's cheerful mood was helping ease her pain a bit.

"Is this huge estate a barbecue restaurant?" Allison was surprised to see the luxurious place.

Even in medieval times, it would've been a royal estate. Yet, the yard was filled with round tables and camping chairs, and the smell of barbecue wafted from the backyard. Srooms must've been turned into kitchens.

Allison couldn't help but think, 'What a waste!' Mia directly voiced Allison's thoughts. "Do you think it's a waste to use a multi-million dollar estate as a barbecue restaurant?" Seeing Allison nod, Mia got even more smug and whispered in her ear, "Lettell you a little secret. This place was actually set up by Hunter just for me. It's part of the Shaw family's property. We used to chere a lot when we were kids. I always craved barbecue, but my mom wouldn't lethave it, so Hunter would bringhere to secretly grill skewers for me!" As they got older, Hunter turned the place into a barbecue joint, but it wasn't open to the public. This spot was all for Mia! Allison looked at Mia, feeling a twinge of envy. Mia had been showered with love from her parents and had Hunter by her side. What more could you want in life? "Mia, you're so lucky!" Mia beamed at the compliment and dragged Allison over to Hunter. "Hunter, I want Kobe beef!" Hunter, always ready to spoil Mia, said, "Don't worry, your uncle already had Kobe beef delivered!" He glanced at Allison. The only person who could make Alexander go to such lengths was the girl standing in front of him.

Thinking about the events in Skycrest that afternoon, Hunter felt a chill. "Business earthquake" didn't even begin to cover it.

Several small families were wiped out, three companies went bankrupt, and one prominent family had to relocate. In just a few hours, they were completely out of the Skycrest scene.

Alexander's swift actions were like an earthquake.

But Allison had no clue what had happened. She just thought the barbecue was amazing. Alexander sat next to her, serving her tea and water, and even cutting the beef into small pieces before putting it on her plate.

Sitting across from them, Liliana felt a bit uneasy. Alexander had finally learned how to take care of a girl, but the whole situation was unsettling.

Meanwhile, Yasmin was fuming because she didn't get Allison's notes. She was even cold towards Blair. "Yasmin, your grades have dropped a lot. You need to work harder and not slack off!" Yasmin sat in the car, head down, not responding to Blair, which made Blair a bit angry. "Did you hear me?"

After being yelled at, Yasmin snapped. "I heard you! Besides worrying about my grades and m whether I'll embarrass the family, what else do you care about? I just asked you to get Allison's notes, and you were so impatient. I should never have let Allison cback to Skycrest!"

At that moment, Yasmin wished she could get rid of Allison. Seeing the vicious look in Yasmin's eyes, Blair felt a bit defeated. She couldn't help but think, 'Could I have been wrong? The person I treated like a precious gem is treatinglike a servant, and I'm her mother!' Thinking of this, Blair said, "Yasmin, what kind of attitude is that? Your grades have fallen so much. If your dad finds out..." Hearing Blair mention her dad, Yasmin got anxious and interrupted, "No, you can't let Dad know. Mom, please, don't tell Dad. I'll do better next time. And Mom, can't you get Allison's notes for me? We're sisters, after all. Allison's things should be mine!" In the past, Blair would have thought Yasmin was right, but now she just felt Yasmin was being unreasonable. Allison's excellent grades were the result of her hard work; there were no free rides. But Yasmin's behavior was blatant robbery, like a bandit.

Blair said, "I'll find you a good tutor when we get home. It's crunch tnow, and the most important thing is your own effort! Let's go home!"

Yasmin had expected Blair to share her hatred for Allison, but instead, Blair's response was so mild that m Yasmin paused for a moment. It wasn't untiBlair t turned back to look at her that Yasmin followed. Back at the restaurant, Allison was probably having the best barbecue she'd ever had. The Kobe beef was grilled to perfection, tender and juicy, and she barely had tto talk, just eat. However, Alexander kept an eye on her, worried she might overeat and get indigestion. He even had a vegetable salad brought out. "If you like it, next twe'll have it at home. I'll make it for you!"
