Chapter 146 Risking Her Life to Save Alexander Griffin's face turned dark as he glared at Allison, resentment clear in his eyes. If it weren't for her, Alexander wouldn't have gone to that chemical warehouse, and he wouldn't be in this mess.

"So, what do you needto do?" he asked, his voice cold.

Allison handed him a consent form. Griffin read it, his expression shifting to shock.

"You want to use an unapproved drug on Alexander?" he asked, incredulous.

Allison shook her head. "It's not unapproved. It's been in clinical trials for three years and is about to get the green light for mass production. Right now, only Henry and I know how to use it. The drug flushes the lungs, and it's a really complicated process. The surgery will take a long time." She had to lay out all the risks, including possible complications like pneumothorax, so Griffin knew what they were up against.

Her explanation only made Griffin angrier.

"Is this your idea of saving Alexander? You're treating him like a lab rat. I can't agree to this!" he said, shaking with anger.

Allison got it; she was even more worried than he was. But this was their only shot at saving Alexander.

Biting her lip, she said firmly, "Griffin, I can't promise the surgery will work, but I'll do everything I can to get Alexander back to health. We're running out of time." "You... I should've never let you two be together!" Griffin exclaimed in anger.

Reluctantly, Griffin realized they had no other choice. They had to take the risk, or Alexander would die. Allison took the signed consent form and said earnestly, "Don't worry, Griffin. No matter what, I'll save him!" She headed back to the operating room with Henry to start the surgery.

Because of the toxic gas Alexander inhaled, they had to use a detoxifying reagent to flush his lungs, followed by other treatments to restore his health. It was a tough procedure. Despite his frustration, Henry was meticulous with his patients.

The flushing process was slow. Henry carefully cleaned every part, and Allison watched as the imaging showed the blackened lungs gradually turning red again.

One hour passed, then three, then eight. After thirteen hours, the operating room lights finally went out, and Alexander was wheeled out. James and the others quickly walked over.

"Excuse me, Ma'am, how's Alexander?" Griffin asked urgently as soon as he saw Briley.

"Mr. Carter's surgery went very well. Thirteen hours, and it wore out two doctors, but it was a success! He'll be in the recovery room for twenty-four hours. If all goes well, he can move to a regular ward," Briley said. Hearing that Alexander was okay, Griffin finally let out a sigh of relief and collapsed into a chair.

"And Allison? Is she okay?" James asked, knowing she was hurt.

"For the last four hours, Dr. Bennett was operating. She has a shoulder injury but ignored it completely. As soon as the surgery ended, she passed out. Dr. Phillips was on his feet for ten hours and was exhausted. Thankfully, Dr. Bennett took over," Briley replied.

As she was talking, a nurse rushed out. "Briley, it's bad. Dr. Bennett is in shock from blood loss and needs an immediate transfusion!" Briley's face went pale, and she grabbed the nurse. "Get the patient to the recovery room now. I'll head to the blood bank!" Lost in the world of this story? Make sure you're on to catch every twist and turn. Griffin asked.

James explained, "When Ms. Bennett was found, she had a gunshot wound on her shoulder. She removed the bullet herself, but the wound was too big and got infected, so she had to have surgery again. Now she just finished a thirteen-hour surgery. Even a healthy person couldn't handle that, let alone someone already injured!" Griffin sighed in frustration. How did things get so bad for these two? "Go check the blood bank. If there are any problems, fix them immediately! I'll talk to Victor; he knows the experts here!" Griffin instructed.

James nodded and rushed to the blood bank, only to find a major issue: they were out of O-negative blood.

"How much do we need?" James asked.

"At least 800 milliliters," a nurse replied.

Hearing this, James made a quick call. "Sunrise Hospital will send over a thousand milliliters of O-negative blood. It should be here in about ten minutes!" Within ten minutes, the blood arrived. Briley was surprised at how quickly James managed to arrange it.

Briley hurried to the operating room. Allison's condition was critical; even with the transfusion, she remained unconscious.

Meanwhile, Alexander woke up the day after the surgery and was moved to a regular ward.

Griffin complained, earning a few glares in return. "If you can't say anything nice, just leave!" Jessa fumed, nearly kicking Griffin out.

Liliana didn't look too pleased either. "Alexander, how are you feeling?"

"I'm fine. Why are you all here? Really, I'm okay. I just inhaled stoxic gas. A couple of days of rest, and I'll st, and !'!! be good as new." Alexander said, trying to sound reassuring. Griffin scoffed. "Just a couple of days? Alexander, do you even realize you were in surgery for thirteen hours? Two doctors collapsed from exhaustion!"

"Don't listen to Griffin's nonsense. The doctors said you'll be okay as long as you rest well. Don't worry Liliana interjected, trying to calm things down. Alexander didn't respond to Liliana. Instead, he looked over to the corner of the room where James stood. "Have you found Allison?" "Yes, Ms. Bennett is also in the hospital," James replied.

Hearing this, Alexander tried to get out of bed, causing Griffin to nearly lose his temper.

"Alexander, you need to stay put! Allison nearly bled out trying to save you. Just focus on getting better before you go see her," Griffin barked.

Alexander's expression darkened instantly. He grabbed Griffin by the collar, his grip tight and desperate. "What do you mean she nearly bled out? Where is she?" Liliana and Jessa exchanged glances, seeing the surprise in each other's eyes. They hurried over to pull the two men apart.
