Chapter 205

Eloise's lips curled slightly at the corners. "What do you wantto ask?" There was a teasing note in her voice

when she spoke.

Harvey was completely captivated by her faint smile, which was rarely seen in his presence. He didn't probe

further but just reclined on the back of the chair, looking at her, and said with a hoarse voice, "It was a job I took

on a while ago. | didn't even meet her!"

Eloise merely hummed in response.

Harvey kept on observing her as if waiting for something. But in the end, he didn't get what he was waiting for.

He couldn't figure out what kind of reaction he wanted from her. Was it jealousy or a quarrel? But both were

better than this lukewarm reaction.

Harvey's mood sank again, partly because of the death of his grandma at hand partly because of Eloise's

attitude. He was unusually agitated, but he kept reminding himself—

A man had to keep his cool!

He wanted to start anew with her, so, of course, he was more thoughtful than before.

In the master bedroom of the villa, Eloise had her own walk-in closet. Harvey had prepared sclothes for her,

and all of them were niche brands that Eloise often wore. Swere even identical to the ones in her wardrobe.

Eloise always brought her work home, so he set aside a study for her.

Eloise was, of course, aware of Harvey's thoughtful gestures. Although she didn't respond, she was willing to

coexist peacefully with him. So when he was in a bad mood, she would tolerate him to sextent, such as

when he insisted on watching a movie in the htheater after dinner.

Eloise closed the file she had been working on. As she stood up, Harvey naturally held her fingertips. That light

touch seemed even more moving than all their past intimate moments.

In Eloise's memory, Harvey was rarely this affectionate. He was more of a passionate lover in bed.

Eloise was taken aback. She couldn't help but look up at him. Harvey gently pulled her towards him, lightly

wrapping an arm around her shoulder. "I've put on a horror movie and turned off the lights. You'll definitely be

scared!"

Eloise smiled faintly. "Really? Is it that scary?"

Harvey loved to see her smile. He stopped, lightly scratching her delicate face with his hand before speaking in a

low voice, "You look so good when you smile!" Eloise felt a little uncomfortable. "Aren't we supposed to be

watching a movie?”

Harvey chuckled and held her hand as they descended the stairs. Although it was just a htheater, it was

quite large, almost a hundred square meters. In front of the curved giant screen was a set of sunken sofas.

Under the dim light, he led her to sit down.

The movie he played was an old classic. It was labeled as a horror film, but it was more of a romance film

disguised as a horror one.

Harvey was engrossed in the film. Eloise turned her head to look at him. In the darkness, no one could see

anyone clearly, but Harvey noticed the moment she turned her head.

"What's wrong?" He put an arm around her shoulder, his hand lightly stroking her ring finger. This action made

Eloise stiffen up.

In the darkness, he chuckled lightly. "Are you scared?"

Eloise denied it quickly. "No!"

Harvey chuckled again, gently pulling her into his embrace and caressing her face. "Do you like the movie?"

"It's okay!"

Harvey didn't push further. He leaned down and kissed her.

Eloise paused for a moment. The fingers around his arm tightened slightly, but in the end, she didn't push him

away.

The movie was at a romantic scene between the male and female lead, creating a perfect atmosphere. Harvey

was filled with desire. Whispering in her ear, he asked, "Can 1?"

Eloise leaned on his shoulder. Under the dim light, her expression was far too calm, but she didn't want Harvey

to see it. She spoke softly, "Not here!"

Harvey's fingers ran through her hair, gently stroking her long locks. He knew all too well whether she was

turned on or not. So, he blurted out, "You really don't like it here? It's so dark, | thought you would like it. After all,

we can't see each other!"

The air seemed to freeze slightly.

Harvey thought to himself that perhaps they should give each other more time, after all, he wanted her for a

lifetime. But her constant coldness towards him made him anxious.

Everything happened naturally. Eloise didn't refuse him again, but she didn't respond much either. Only when he

did something right, would she let out a soft gasp. That faint sound was like a shot of adrenaline to Harvey's

heart. He lost his composure.

After making love in the htheater, he carried her back to the master bedroom, wanting to see her under the

light.

Eloise wrapped her arms around his neck. "Harvey, turn off the lights!"

But he preferred to admire her under the light. Her skin was glowing, every inch of

it perfect. The faint redness at the corner of her eye lured him to kiss it ceaselessly. As he kissed her, he was

filled with desire and passion. "CallHarvey!"

Eloise didn't speak for a long time. Long enough for the sweat of passion to cool down, long enough for a hint of

disappointment to flash in his eyes. Eloise reached out and gently caressed his handsfeatures, her

seductive lips parting slightly. "Aren't we just fine as we are now?"

If she didn't have much hope for him, they wouldn't argue. Like when he went to Britain, she knew about it but

didn't feel anything. Whether he met Joan or not, whether they reminisced about old times or not, she didn't care

at all.

After all that they had been through, for the rest of her life, Eloise just wanted to love herself.

In the end, their lovemaking didn't continue. Harvey wasn't satisfied with their relationship. He desperately

wanted Eloise to respond to him, at least let him know that she still cared about him, that he still had some

existence in her heart. Eloise showed him kindness, but she didn't give him a chance.

He slid off her and lay down next to her, breathing lightly. Eloise knew he was upset, but to comfort him gently

with sweet words, she really couldn't bring herself

to do it. She got out of bed and went to the bathroom to shower.

Halfway through her shower, Harvey cin. He looked at her deeply through the steam.

Eloise was willing to talk to him. She wrapped a towel around her body and spoke softly. "Harvey, you're a

successful lawyer and a shrewd businessman. You should know when to cut your losses. Look, you've always

wanted me, and now I'm right here in front of you, but you're not happy... Harvey, if this relationship makes you

uncomfortable or unhappy, why not end it?"

She didn't want to deceive him. At least for now, she had no plans to spend the rest of her life with him. She also

never thought about revenge. Between them, whether they were together or apart, it was best to keep things

civil.

Eloise flashed him a slight smile, her voice barely above a whisper. "Harvey, what you're asking for...I can't give

it to you."

Those were the swords he had once spoken to her. And now, the tables had turned. Her voice was soft, yet

it hit him like a sledgehammer, causing intense pain in his heart.

Harvey quietly closed his eyes. His voice was low and hoarse as he said, "Eloise, the fact that you're even willing

to talk about this... means you still care about me..."

Eloise didn't respond. After all, neither of them were finding this easy.
