“Why would you skip a grand wedding?” Drawing from her own experiences, Kendra guessed her son was simply

skip the wedding just because you think the whole process is too much work?”
Ellis said, “Do | really seem like that type of guy to you?”
Kendra fell quiet for a moment. She knew he wasn’t, but still, she couldn't understand it.
“Every girl dreams of a grand wedding. You'll end up regretting it if you decide against it.” Kendra hoped to
change their minds. “Besides, Freya's dad is famous in the business world. If you don’t hold a grand wedding,
people will definitely talk.”
Ellis replied, “That won't be a problem.”
Neither Kendra nor Caldwell looked satisfied, but neither found the right words to protest.
Ellis added, “She’s not comfortable with crowds.”

With a pointed cough, he cleared his throat, hoping to catch Ellis’s attention. Ellis was too absorbed in texting to
notice, assuming his father simply had a tickle in his throat. That only made Caldwell more irritated.
