Chapter 271
Chapter 271
A faint whisper of alcohol lingered in Zane’s breath as he locked eyes with Elysia, her exquisite face glowing with
radiance. He smiled warmly and inquired, “Did you uncover anything?”
“Yeah, | can tell. You're upset,” Elysia replied.
“How do you see that?” he asked, leaning slightly to meet her gaze. They were so close that they could feel each
other’s breath mingling.
The potent aura of masculinity caused Elysia’s heart to race. Instinctively, she pulled her hand away and turned
from Zane. “It’s plain as day. Do you really need to ask?”
Elysia felt her face heating up and was grateful it was nighttime. Even with the lights on, her blush shouldn't be
too noticeable. She cursed her tendency to blush so easily.
As a cool breeze passed, it carried away the warmth that had lingered in Zane’s hand. He tightened his grip, as if
trying to cling to that warmth just a moment longer. The sensation of her smooth skin was etched into his heart,
leaving him yearning to hold her hand forever.
He watched Elysia’s figure retreat, his eyes sparkling with unspoken emotions. “You're absolutely right. So, how
do you intend to makehappy?” His voice was deep and mesmerizing, sending a delightful shiver through
Elysia and tugging at her heartstrings.
After regaining her composure, Elysia looked back at him, striving to remain calm. Yet, when she met his gaze,
her thoughts once again beca tangled mess. What a charmer he was. His eyes seemed to convey more than
words, making her heart flutter with each glance.
She pondered, thinking, ‘Could anyone resist such allure? Wait, allure?’ As these words echoed in Elysia’s mind,
her pupils dilated in surprise. ‘What am | thinking? It is truly alarming.”

face; her entire body felt unexpectedly warm.
She wore a strapless gown, her shoulders bare, and the evening breeze was gentle. Under such circumstances,
she shouldn't have felt so hot. Yet, she was almost breaking into a sweat.
At that moment, music began to flow from the hall, signaling the start of the dance. Zane smiled warmly and
said, “If you don’t know how to cheerup, just dance with me.” With that, he extended his hand invitingly..
Elysia gazed at the hand hovering in mid-air. The previous touch still lingered on her fingertips, and almost
impulsively, she reached out and placed her hand in his palm.
Zane gently took her hand and placed it on his shoulder, while his other arm wrapped around her waist. They
closed the gap between them and moved their feet in harmony with the music, dancing gracefully in the
pavilion.
Elysia took a deep breath to steady herself, her breathing calming. She beclost in the dance, fully relaxed,
and executed every move with perfection. As she twirled, she found herself in Zane’s arms, meeting his gaze.
This time, she wasn’t nervous and didn’t avert her eyes.
Their eyes met, filled with emotions that neither could articulate nor define.
Holding Elysia close, Zane’s heart pounded and he struggled to swallow. He was afraid he might lose control and
do something inappropriate, so he quickly released her, turning his head to the side as if nothing had happened.
Elysia couldn't quite comprehend what had just transpired; she only noticed a sudden emptiness at her waist..
looking away, and when she followed his gaze, she saw nothing out of the ordinary.

reached out and landed on Zane's face, feeling surprisingly warm to the touch.
A mischievous grin spread across Elysia’s lips as she felt a sense of equilibrium within. Usually, it was she who
felt flustered, but now she was witnessing Zane in such a state.
Caught up in her glee and fulfillment, Elysia failed to withdraw her hand. As she savored the moment, Zane
grasped her wrist. Before she could comprehend what was happening, the aura he emitted forced her to take a
few steps back.
Leaning against the stone pillar, Elysia found herself disconcerted by Zane, whose expression was a blend of
seriousness and teasing. She regretted her boldness. Nervously, she glanced at Zane and stammered, “I-I'm
pretty strong, you know. Don’t try anything funny.”
But Zane remained unaffected. Instead, he moved closer and whispered into her ear, “How strong?”
The warmth of his breath tickled her ear, and as she listened to his deep voice, her heart raced uncontrollably.
Zane was being unfair; how could he behave like this?
“For what?” Zane pressed.
“Zane... Zane, please stop teasing me,” Elysia pleaded.
Zane's lips curled into a faint smile. His gaze flicked over her delicate neck, and he managed to quell the fire in
his heart. When he straightened up, the smile had vanished from his face.
He released her wrist, his eyes twinkling with amusement, and playfully flicked her nose with his finger. “Next
time, don’t do anything so crazy,” he said softly before turning and walking away, worried that if he stayed any
longer, the mischievous spark would ignite into full-fledged trouble again.
Elysia watched him leave, the recent encounter replaying in her mind, causing her heart to pound. After standing
in the chilly breeze for a while, she felt the heat within her finally subsided.

Elysia’s eyes widened, and her nerves, which had just settled, tightened again. She debated whether to greet
them when the lady’s voice interrupted her thoughts. “Elysia.”
Elysia looked at the lady, curious about what she might say next. Just as her thoughts raced, the lady released
Zane's arm, stepped forward, and warmly clasped her hand, surprising her.
“Elysia, I'm Zane’s mom, Jocelyn,” Jocelyn said, revealing her true identity.
Upon hearing that she was Zane’s mother, Elysia straightened up and respectfully greeted her, “Hello, Jocelyn.”
At this moment, Zane had already joined them. Just as he was about to speak, Jocelyn gave him a sidelong
glance and teasingly said, “Elysia, you have no idea how long I've wanted to meet you. But he never agreed to
bringalong earlier.
“Today, | finally get to meet you, such a lovely young lady. | wish | had met you sooner.” Then she changed the
subject. “I heard from Zane that the gown was designed forthrough Ada because of your connection?”
