A pang of pain hit Chloe in the chest. Harold just told her that Jasper might be the product of Xavia and another
man, but she still found it hard to say no to him. Harold felt the sway too. He had always wished for an
obedient great-grandson. The boy before him was just as he had imagined, and the boy did not take after
Joseph's character.

Chloe hesitated for a long tbefore finally deciding to cross her boundaries. "How long will it take?"

trotted over and introduced Chloe to the woman, "Miss, this is my mother. Sorry, we're late."
The woman extended her hand to Chloe and said in a friendly tone, "Hello, I'm Jasper’'s homeroom teacher."
Chloe shook hands with the teacher enthusiastically. "Hello."
Having got what he wanted, Jasper winked at his father smugly. Joseph understood and smiled, giving his son a
thumbs-up. An understanding had been established. Jasper distracted the teacher with chatter to buy tfor

The warm sunlight shone down on the trio, making them look very much like a harmonious family. Even Joseph's
sharp and aloof gaze had a touch of warmth to it. The teacher addressed Chloe as Jasper's mother, and though
Chloe was not used to it at first, she soon got comfortable with the role. If her child was still alive, they would be
like Jasper.

At noon, the teacher left. Chloe instantly put away her smile and glanced at Joseph coldly. She then turned to go
back upstairs to Harold's room.
Joseph stopped her. "Let's eat before going up."
"It's fine, I'm not hungry."
"Be good now.” Although Joseph said this gently, he grabbed her waist and hugged her.
Chloe elbowed him fiercely. "Let go of me. | know you and Jasper are working together. He pretended to be all
pitiful to fool me. I did him a favor, but it has nothing to do with you."
Of course, she had been able to tell that Jasper was trying to put them together.
Joseph smiled wickedly. "How long have you knownand how long have you known Jas? Why would you do
