Chapter 1388
"Who started spreading this nonsense? They're out here ruining lives, just saying whatever they want," Mrs. Fay
fumed.
Once she tracked down whoever was responsible, she was ready to sue and make them pay. This was too much.
"It's probably not just srandom account," Lydia replied thoughtfully. "At most, they're just adding fuel to the
fire. I think | know exactly who's behind this."
"Who?" Mr. Fay asked urgently. "Tell me, and I'll make sure they face the consequences. This is infuriating!"
"Eugene," Lydia said flatly.

Silence fell on the other end. Her parents exchanged glances, disbelief written across their faces.
Eugene had always seemed like such a stand-up guy, genuinely fond of Lydia, treating her parents with respect
like they were his own. How could he possibly pull something like this?
Lydia guessed her parents would have trouble believing it. She continued, "He's been pushing hard for marriage.
He knocked on my door for so long that even the neighbors cout to complain. When | turned him down, he
went straight to you. After both of you declined, | think he felt desperate. Who knows what he's willing to do?"
"But Lydia, we don't have proof. Accusing him without evidence would be unfair," Mrs. Fay replied, uncertainty
lacing her tone.
She really didn't want to think the worst of Eugene. If he were behind this, it would mean he had been hiding his
true self all along, fooling them into endorsing him as a match for their daughter.
Finally, Mr. Fay made the decision. "Okay, here's what we'll do. You stay out there and relax. We'll look into this,
and if it turns out Eugene's responsible, he's not welchere anymore."
"I'm just going to book a flight back. You're both constantly worrying about me, so how could | enjoy myself out
here?" Lydia didn't want to put all the stress on her parents. At their age, they already had plenty to handle with
the company and now they were shouldering her troubles too.
"Actually, here's an idea," she continued. "Remember, I've been wanting to intern at the company. You can look
into all of this and work on getting that trending post taken down. I'll cback and help out."
Her parents agreed. Lydia would take over the company someday, so it made sense to start sooner rather than
later.

Her dad hesitated, adding, "I'd like to bring you in as a manager right away, but I'm concerned about how the
employees might react. It's a lot of responsibility, and they might not accept it right away."
Lydia laughed it off. "I'll start at the bottom, no problem. Just givethe most basic position. Anyway, I'll book
my flight now."
As Lydia made her way home, Quincy was still with his mother, urging her to review her medical report.
"I know my own body," she insisted, brushing him off. "I've already had one surgery. Why would | need another?
Mrs. Perez kept refusing, not even glancing at the report In her mind, she was still perfectly healthy, without a
single ailment.
But Quincy wasn't buying it. "You didn't have any surgery. You convinced the doctor to stage the whole thing just
to trick me!"
