The young woman nodded. "Yes, I've been on duty since 5 p.m., and I'll be here until 5 a.m. tomorrow?" Suzy
continued, "Do you recall a woman, about sixty seventy years old, who cin two or three hours ago to buy
smedicine?"
The young woman responded almost instantly. "Of course, | remember! She bought that kind of medicine. It was
the first tI'd ever seen someone her age cin for something like that. | even gave her a few reminders
about its use. But she said it was for a younger person in her family."
At this point, the young woman gave Suzy a look filled with curiosity and a hint of amusement.
Suzy knew exactly what the woman was implying, but she didn't care. All she wanted was answers. "The
medicine you sold her was expired. Were you aware of that?"
"Expired?" The young woman looked indignant. "That's impossible! Before | handed it to her, | checked the
production date. It's good until next year-there's no way it was expired!"
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇt"If it wasn't expired, then why did the person who took it experience severe adverse reactions?" Suzy countered.
"Even the hospital concluded it was due to expired medication."
She leaned in slightly, her tone turning sharp. "You said you checked the production date. Who can verify that
what you're saying is true?"
"It was just her andin the store at the time. Where am | supposed to find a witness?" The young woman
started to panic. "You can't just believe whatever the doctor says! Medicines can cause side effects, but that
doesn't mean they were expired!"
"So I'm supposed to believe you-a young woman without even a pharmacist's license-over a qualified doctor?"
Suzy pressed, her voice firm. "The fact is, the medicine purchased from this pharmacy caused severe rashes,
and the patient is now in critical condition at the hospital. | need an explanation!"
"All the medicines | sell are legitimate. If you don't believe me, | can show you the surveillance footage!" Suzy's
eyes narrowed slightly. "Perfect."
This was exactly what she had been waiting for. Walking in and immediately demanding the footage might have
raised suspicion, making the staff reluctant to cooperate. By using a bit of pressure, she got what she wanted.
After reviewing the surveillance footage, it was exactly as the young woman had claimed. When she handed the
medication to Linda, she specifically checked the production date and even mentioned it to her.
Having proven her innocence, the young woman huffed and asked, "Now do you believe | wasn't lying?"
"I'm sorry. It's clear this wasn't your fault," Suzy admitted. "But he developed severe symptoms after taking that
medication. Is it possible someone tampered with the contents?"
She paused before adding, "Can | check the footage from earlier tslots?"
The
young woman thought for a moment before nodding. "Alright."

Suzy reviewed the footage from before Linda entered he store. Everything seemed normal, with no signs of
tampering or any unusual activity. The survel ance footage was intact, with no evidence of edits or deletions.
It was clear the problem didn't originate here.
But if the issue wasn't with the pharmacy, where else could it have occurred?
After leaving the pharmacy, Suzy returned to the hospital.

While Suzy was certain he had been poisoned with Scarlet Veil, it was different from the version Anne had been
affected by previously. That one acted gradually,
but this variation struck with its full intensity immediately. Without timely detoxification, his life could be in
imminent danger.
